let's recycle!

Yay—let's recycle! Here’s a quick guide for when you've finished using all your products:

1. Make the products 'recycle ready' by rinsing it out and cleaning it. What if the product doesn't work for me? Give it to someone who might like to try it! That way, you will minimise wastage and give the product a second home. ♡♡

2. Get the DETAILS! Typically, most skin care packaging is recyclable in Australia, but what can and can’t be recycled depends on where you live. A quick Google search will reveal a recycling guideline based on your state / territory.

3. Can I put this in my recycling bin? If you've checked and the answer is 'yes', give these items a second life and put them in the recycling bin. If it's not, look into enterprises like TerraCycle, to help you properly recycle your beauty products. If the product is recycable through TerraCycle, it is FREE and all you have to do is gather your empty products together, print a recycling label and ship it out - that’s it! They’ll take care of the rest for you.

FYI, recycling plants uses numbers ranging from 1 to 7 to help sort all the materials. PETE stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and PP stands for Polypropylene — these are both plastics. PAP represents paper / mixed paper / cardboard. See Earth Easy to learn more about your plastics.

That's it babes! Remember to love our earth; love our planet! #dontbetrashy

By Wishtrend - Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water - 120ml

By Wishtrend's Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is a gentle and non irritating all-in-one facial exfoliator that improves skin tone and complexion. As an AHA, we think mandelic acid is underrated. It contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that treat acne. And because mandelic acid is made up of larger molecules than other AHAs and doesn't penetrate as deeply, it is less likely to cause irritation. This makes Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water an ideal toner for anyone starting out on acids, sensitive skin types and darker skin tones. The addition of centella asiatica in this formula eases redness and boosts skin regeneration.  You'll see smoother and more even skin in little to no time!

The pH of this product is 4.5 ± 1.0.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does mandelic acid do for your skin?

There are so many types of AHAs out there, it can get confusing! We think mandelic acid is pretty special. It's made of larger molecular weights, making it perfect for acid beginners, sensitive skin and darker skin tones. You get the same exfoliating and brightening benefits, but minus the redness and potential irritation that can come with its more intense counterpart, glycolic acid.

Can you use Wishtrend Mandelic Acid everyday?

Frequency of usage really depends on your skin and what it permits. But our own rule of thumb is that it's better to underuse acids (even gentler ones like mandelic acid) than overuse them. Don't get seduced by the instant brightening and plumping effect AHAs provide! Over-use can damage your skin barrier, something that you don't really notice until it's gone (trust us). The 5% mandelic acid concentration in By Wishtrend's formula is relatively safe for use multiple times a week. You might want to use it more often on breakout-prone areas, but for an all-over application, twice a week is plenty.

What can you not mix with mandelic acid?

Mandelic acid is still an acid - this means you should not combine it with any other active ingredients (e.g. vitamin C, retinoids, niacinamide, other acids). What you CAN use it with for great results are soothing or plumping ingredients: cica, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, propolis etc.

Is mandelic acid same as salicylic acid?

There are different groups of acids, the most common being AHAs, BHAs and PHAs. Mandelic acid belongs to the AHA group - these work on exfoliating surface skin, making them great for brightening and evening out skin tone. Salicylic acid meanwhile, is a BHA. BHAs work deeper in the skin, making them perfect for unclogging pores, treating acne and blackheads.
