let's recycle!

Yay—let's recycle! Here’s a quick guide for when you've finished using all your products:

1. Make the products 'recycle ready' by rinsing it out and cleaning it. What if the product doesn't work for me? Give it to someone who might like to try it! That way, you will minimise wastage and give the product a second home. ♡♡

2. Get the DETAILS! Typically, most skin care packaging is recyclable in Australia, but what can and can’t be recycled depends on where you live. A quick Google search will reveal a recycling guideline based on your state / territory.

3. Can I put this in my recycling bin? If you've checked and the answer is 'yes', give these items a second life and put them in the recycling bin. If it's not, look into enterprises like TerraCycle, to help you properly recycle your beauty products. If the product is recycable through TerraCycle, it is FREE and all you have to do is gather your empty products together, print a recycling label and ship it out - that’s it! They’ll take care of the rest for you.

FYI, recycling plants uses numbers ranging from 1 to 7 to help sort all the materials. PETE stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and PP stands for Polypropylene — these are both plastics. PAP represents paper / mixed paper / cardboard. See Earth Easy to learn more about your plastics.

That's it babes! Remember to love our earth; love our planet! #dontbetrashy

Dear, Klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum - 30ml

Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum is the latest in the brand's popular Freshly Juiced Vitamin line! This serum is basically like a multivitamin for your skin, with additional ingredients to counter signs of aging. It uses a 10% concentration of a stable vitamin C derivative (3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid) blended with vitamin E for hydration, vitamin B3 (i.e niacinamide) for brightening and vitamin B5 (a.k.a. panthenol) for sensitivity. There's also madecassoside to soothe redness, hyaluronic acid to plump and adenosine to counter fine lines. It is your one stop shop for all the good stuff!

How does it compare to the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop, which is another vitamin C formula? While both use stabilized vitamin C, the original is gentler with a 5% concentration, while the Charging Serum contains 10%. The Vitamin Drop's texture is almost like a light facial oil, whereas this is more watery and has more slip to it. For that reason, we'd say the Vitamin Drop should be the mainstay for dry skin, while the Charging Serum is the better pick for dehydration and acne-prone skin.

The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum contains 10% stabilized vitamin c and is suitable for dehydrated, acne-prone, ageing and combination skin.

These drops fall in the 'treatment' phase of your skincare routine. Typical use would be to apply 3-4 drops after toning / essence and before your moisturiser. Gently massage into your skin. If you feel your skin is more sensitive, you can mix it with your moisturiser OR apply after moisturiser.

Side note: Please use caution when using vitamin c with other products containing BHA / AHA. Over exfoliation can lead to a compromised skin barrier.

TIP: Follow up with SPF when using during the day. We also recommend to store all vitamin C products in the fridge or a dark cool place away from direct sunlight. This will make the product retain its effectiveness for longer and protect from oxidization.

Precautions:
Stop using the product immediately and consult a dermatologist when redness, swelling, or other skin irritations occur, and consult a physician. Avoid applying the product on open wounds or skin inflammation. Keep away from direct sunlight and out of reach of infants and children.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Klairs vitamin C cause purging?

Klairs' vitamin C shouldn't cause purging, but hold up. 'Purging' itself is a bit of an odd concept and may not even be recognised as a real thing by some dermatologists. So does skin actually 'purge' (i.e. break out) with new products before improving? It's possible, and more likely to happen with ingredients that increase skin cell turnover (e.g. exfoliants, peels, retinol and yes, vitamin C). Any pimples that were forming will basically speed up their emergence because you're basically pressing fast-forward on your skin cells' life cycle. It should die down very quickly, after the first so-called 'purge'. Hence, it's possible that Klairs' Vitamin C Serum could cause purging, even though it's a gentle formulation. Try introducing it gradually into your routine, and if the 'purge' is persistent, well then - it might just be plain old zits or a skin reaction. You can rule out the last option if you patch test first (that's why we always harp on about patch testing!).

When should I take Klairs Vitamin Charging Serum day or night?

There's no hard and fast rules for when you should apply a vitamin C serum, including the Klairs Charging Serum. It'll work morning or night. With that being said, we always think it's better to apply it in the morning, because vitamin C (being an antioxidant) complements your SPF in protecting your skin from free radicals and UV damage.

Should I store Klairs vitamin C in the fridge?

Technically, there's no need to store Klairs Vitamin Charging Serum in the fridge as the formula is made with a stabilized form of vitamin C. Plus, it's packaged in airtight and opaque packaging. This helps protects it from the oxidizing effects of heat and light. However, store yours in the fridge if you want it to last as long as possible, because eventually, all vitamin C serums oxidize - even stabilized formulas (albeit at a far slower rate).

Is Klairs vitamin C serum good for beginners?

Klairs' Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is a a better option for beginners, given its gentle 5% concentration. But the Vitamin Charging Serum is also a decent option, given it's quite hydrating despite using double the concentration. It shouldn't burn or feel uncomfortable at all.

Is Klairs vitamin C Charging Serum good?

Klairs' Vitamin C Drop is one of the best-sellers in the Klairs range - and we think the Charging Serum might give it a run for its money! It works on a wider range of skin types and just like the Vitamin C Drop, delivers results.

Can I use Klairs vitamin C Charging Serum everyday?

Klairs Vitamin C Seurm is gentle enough to use everyday. It only contains a 10% concentration of stabilized vitamin C, and is generally one of the options we suggest for those with sensitive skin.

Does vitamin C make acne worse?

Vitamin C can temporarily make acne worse because it is an active ingredient that speeds up your skin's cell turnover. Basically, any pimples that were about to emerge or were cooking underneath your skin will come up more quickly! But, this is generally only temporary. Vitamin C is actually a great ingredient for treating acne, and past any initial purge (which, by the way, only happens to a lucky few), should eventually reduce breakouts and treat acne scars.

What should you not mix with vitamin C?

Vitamin C should not be mixed with any other active ingredient if you have sensitive skin. Using one active ingredient at a time is usually the way to go. However, if your skin is hardy and you're an expert at layering, you can combine vitamin C with retinol, niacinamide, arbutin and bakuchiol. Just avoid the acid exfoliants like AHAs and BHAs - these are all standalone ingredients.

Is Dear Klairs vitamin C effective?

Dear Klairs' Vitamin Charging Serum is highly effectve at brightening and protecting your skin from oxidization. The 5-star reviews are coming thick and fast!
