let's recycle!

Yay—let's recycle! Here’s a quick guide for when you've finished using all your products:

1. Make the products 'recycle ready' by rinsing it out and cleaning it. What if the product doesn't work for me? Give it to someone who might like to try it! That way, you will minimise wastage and give the product a second home. ♡♡

2. Get the DETAILS! Typically, most skin care packaging is recyclable in Australia, but what can and can’t be recycled depends on where you live. A quick Google search will reveal a recycling guideline based on your state / territory.

3. Can I put this in my recycling bin? If you've checked and the answer is 'yes', give these items a second life and put them in the recycling bin. If it's not, look into enterprises like TerraCycle, to help you properly recycle your beauty products. If the product is recycable through TerraCycle, it is FREE and all you have to do is gather your empty products together, print a recycling label and ship it out - that’s it! They’ll take care of the rest for you.

FYI, recycling plants uses numbers ranging from 1 to 7 to help sort all the materials. PETE stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and PP stands for Polypropylene — these are both plastics. PAP represents paper / mixed paper / cardboard. See Earth Easy to learn more about your plastics.

That's it babes! Remember to love our earth; love our planet! #dontbetrashy

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Etude House Sunprise a chemical sunscreen?

The Etude House Sunprise series comprises of two different sunscreens: Mild Airy Finish is a physical sunscreen, using the filters titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. It is low turbidity but can still leave a light cast on dark skin tones. Mild Watery Light, meanwhile, is a chemical sunscreen and dries clear on skin.

Is Etude House Sunprise good for oily skin?

Both Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish and Mild Watery Light are very good for oily skin. Each sunscreen has a lightweight application, and dries on the matte side. You can wear them on their own (if your skin is particularly oily), or over a light moisturizer.

Is Sunprise waterproof?

There's no express gurantee that Etude House Sunprise sunscreens are waterproof: so we would say, assume they're not and take a look at SVR's range instead, which has a number of waterproof sunscreens on offer in various finishes. More broadly however, we always recommend re-applying SPF after sweating excessively or going for dip, even when wearing certified waterproof formulas. Best to err on the side of conservatism when it comes to protecting your skin from UV rays!

Is Etude House SPF 50?

Both Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish and Mild Watery Light offer SPF50+ PA+++ protection. This means strong protection against both UVA and UVB rays (i.e. broadspectrum protection). This is the type of SPF you should be looking for, especially under the Australian sun!

Is Etude House sunscreen safe?

Patch test first to find out if its the best fit for your skin, but generally, they popular and much-loved formulas that perform well on most skin types. They also provide an excellent base under makeup, with no pilling or "bleeding", thanks to its lightweight and matte finish.

Will it leave a residue?

Etude House's Sunrpise Mild Watery Light is an invisible sunscreen, and won't leave any residue on the skin. Sunprise Mild Airy Finish is a physical sunscreen. While it doesn't have much of a white cast (a things considered), it has more of a chance of leaving residue on darker skin tones. Fair to medium skin tones however, will find that it blends in well.

Does it smell good?

Etude House's Sunprise products smell damn good - it's not overpowering, but sure makes the application pleasant. It smells almost like a lemon sorbet, thanks to the addition of various fragrant plant extracts.

Is it good for sensitive skin?

Etude House's Sunprise Mild Watery Light and Mild Airy Finish are good choices for sensitive skin. Just be aware that they contain fragrant plant oils, so if your skin is allergic or sensitive to natural fragrances, then avoid. Opt instead for a completely fragrance-free product, like SVR's Sensifine AR SPF50+ or Black Girl Sunscreen.
