Did you know Dr. Ceuracle was established in 2000? That's right, for over 20 years, it's been delivering cosmetic excellence. Not only that, but Dr Ceuracle was one of the earliest cosmeceutical brands in Korea (cosmeceutical = skincare and cosmetics backed by clinical results). But most of us have only heard of the brand fairly recently, thanks to the explosive popularity of its Vegan Kombucha skincare series on social media. Its other products are no less deserving of attention, with this Korean brand combining botanicals with scientific results in formulas that your skin (and hair) will love. So let's get stuck into it!
If we had to name the brand's most popular product, then this would be it! But what does Kombucha Tea Essence do, apart from sounding like a lovely refreshing beverage? (Important - don't drink it LOL). Basically, it's a cream-in-essence hybrid product. It uses fermented kombucha tea extract, propolis, squalane and sunflower seed oil to promote moisture, fortify the skin barrier and deliver a radiant complexion. It feels luxe and creamy, but hydrating at the same time. And it leaves our skin feeling bee-yoo-tee-ful. Hands down one of the best essences we've tried.
How do you use Dr Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence? There's no trick to it. You can combine it with another essence (Pro Tip - it works well with Beauty of Joseon's Ginseng Essence), or over your regular toner before you proceed with a serum/moisturizer step. It's an extra layer of moisture and soothing in your routine. The genius is that it appears to work on a variety of skin types. If you have blemish-prone skin and are using harsh anti-acne treatments or tretinoin that leave your skin dry and parched, this essence is the perfect antidote. It also works for a skincare routine that's treating anti-ageing, dryness or sensitivity concerns. It might not be the first pick for oily skin (although propolis is a good sebum-regulating ingredient), but it can still rock if paired with a lightweight gel cream.
We've tried some amazing propolis products in our time. We're not surprised propolis is so popular in the K-Beauty world either, given this gentle ingredient can reduce redness, help with acne, brighten the complexion and provide anti-aging benefits too. And in this crowded market, the Dr Ceuracle Royal Vita Propolis 33 Ampoule is a standout. This powerful serum combines a 33% concentration of pure propolis with royal jelly and panthenol to relieve irritation on sensitive skin. It reduces fine lines impressively thanks to adenosine, while sea buckthorn and niacinamide help skin appear brighter over time. You can use it every day (twice a day) if you want, without any issue - even on sensitive skin. Plus, it's fungal acne safe!
And if you have dry, dehydrated, mature and/or reactive skin in need of a glow, that's not the only propolis product that should be on your radar. The Dr Ceuracle Propolis Cream is to die for, without wanting to exaggerate! We love the rich, honey-like texture and how nutrient-dense it is. Like the ampoule, it uses a 33% concentration of propolis along with niacinamide, sea buckthorn and green tea seed oil to leave skin juicy and radiant. It feels like a high-end cream at half the price. Add to that the Dr Ceuracle Eye Cream and you'll look like dewy royalty
Vitamin C is a bit of a funny ingredient. It has been clinically proven to work in terms of brightening the skin, protecting it from free radicals, encouraging collagen production and just generally, being one of the best anti-aging and hyperpigmentation ingredints around. BUT, the kicker is that our skin doesn't always take to it (WHY?!). If our skin is on the sensitive side, or our skin barrier is compromised, it increases the risk that it'll cause irritation. Also, it's a notoriously unstable ingredient, with pure vitamin C liable to degrade in heat and sunlight (storage in a dark and cool place is key). There are some ways to get around it, such as using a lower strength vitamin C serum (~5-10%), applying it every second or third day, or substituting it for naturally vitamin C-rich ingredients like sea buckthorn. But given the aforementioned, vitamin C serums that are gentle on sensitive skin but tough on hyperpigmentation are always appreciated here at Kanvas Beauty! And we gotta say, Dr Ceuracle's Mellight Ampoule is one of the good ones.
This luxe product comes in a set of 4 ampoules, each with 10% pure vitamin C powder and sea buckthorn extract to brighten the complexion, fade acne scars and protect your skin from free radical damage. In addition, the formula includes soothing idebenone, blue chamomile oil and Vitamin E to hydrate and calm potential irritations. It's one of the better ones for reactive skin, and will make your complexion look like someone switched a lightbulb on inside you.
Q: Is Dr Ceuracle a Korean brand?
A: Dr Ceuracle is indeed a Korean brand. It's one of the earliest cosmeceutical brands in Korea, paving the way for many others to follow. In fact, its very name is an amalgamation of the words 'cosmeceutical' and 'miracle', which speaks to what the brand aims to do for skincare lovers worldwide!
Q: Is Dr Ceuracle vegan?
A: While Dr Ceuracle is cruelty-free, not all its products are vegan. However, it does offer a range of vegan products, including its signature Vegan Kombucha range and its newest Vegan Active Berry range. Obviously, its propolis products are not vegan, given propolis is a honey by-product.
Q: Who is Dr Ceuracle?
A: It might surprise you to know that Dr Ceuracle is not an actual person, but two! The brand used to be callled Leegeeham, a combination of its original founders Dr Lee, Ji and Ham.
Q: What's the best Dr Ceuracle essence for acne?
A: There are a few Dr C essences worth trying. But the one we love most for congestion-prone skin is the Dr Ceuracle Tea Tree Essence. Along with the toner and cream, it has all the ingredients you need to combat blocked pores, redness and blemishes without being harsh or drying. Tea-tree is an excellent anti-inflammatory ingredient, while betaine salicylate gently unclogs pores. Sample it and see if it works for your skin in the Tea Tree Purifine Duo Set.
